Project 4: Self-Titled

INSTRUCTIONS

Firstly, I wrote out some basic information about myself in the assignment slides to brainstorm an idea of what I wanted my poster to look like. Afterwards, I went onto pinterest to look for posters to reference.

Figure 1.3 - Poster References

After figuring out my concept and finding references, I went onto sketching out ideas of my poster. I wanted it to be about how I have different interests (art, gaming, music, decorating things with stickers etc.).

I ended up mixing both of the sketches together when I began creating my poster. I then took photos by myself at home.

Once I took my photos, I began working on the poster and compiled everything together.

After this I went into Procreate on my iPad to draw out the 'artsy' part of the poster using a pencil-like brush. I also used similar colours as what was already on the poster to make it look like it belonged more. Once I was done drawing out the scribbles, I exported it as a transparent PNG and inserted it in the Photoshop file.

After I finished the poster, I went into After Effects to animate all the elements.

REFLECTION

Experience
My experience overall with this project was really positive, albeit quite hectic. I struggled with the composition as it was hard to include everything in such a narrow canvas without making it too cluttered or distracting. Animating in After Effects was also challenging, despite doing the exercise in previous week's class, there was still much more I had to learn. Overall, I have learnt a lot during this project as well as this semester as a whole.

Observations
An observation I made during this project was how difficult it was to animate so many elements. Making sure everything came in and out at appropriate times without being too fast or too slow was quite difficult. It was also very interesting to see how everyone else created their posters and how they chose to animate it.

Findings
I found that I've developed a newfound appreciation for video and image editors. In the beginning, I believed that it was an easy feat however after going through all the exercises and projects, i've realised how much harder it is than I initially thought.
