Final Task:
INSTRUCTIONS
FINAL TASK
To Do:
- Navigation Experience
- Update AR UI
- Add screenshot feature in the department view
- Events Page
- Add sound effects
Continuing on, I inserted all the spotify codes for each member.
I also changed the next and previous button sprites as well as the back button.
Afterwards, I created a new scene for the events page and added two canvases; the upcoming and past events page, and the event information page for the 'Olivia Rodrigo' event.
I then added an empty object and assigned a canvas switcher script to it so that when users press on the 'Olivia Rodrigo' event, it will switch to the canvas with the information.
I also made another script to take users to an external page to be able to book tickets and assigned it to the 'book ticket' button in the info canvas.
Now, the last thing to tackle is the navigation AR. I decided to just set everything up in Unity first and then try to see if it would work on campus later. I first laid all the scans out to how it would look in real life.
Then, I used plane 3d objects to act as the guiding line. I also added text in the scene to help guide users further.
Now after I set up all the guide lines and text, I went to campus at night to test it out however it wouldn't work for whatever reason. I spent a really long time trying to figure it out but eventually I decided to just leave it as a simulation because I could not put myself through all the mental pain of trying to keep figuring out...
I also tested out the Board of Directors AR experience and it initially didn't work because there was a stuffed animal that was blocking the vinyl so I just replaced the image target and it worked!
Anyways, I tried to build the app for iOS through VMWare but it wouldn't work for whatever reason and I couldn't use my family's Mac to build it since it wouldn't install the Unity Editor. Therefore, I asked my amazing friend, Katelyn, to help export the build for me :)

REFLECTION
I feel like this task was much less daunting than the previous one however I absolutely had no idea what I was doing for the navigation AR experience. The scans were also sort of weird as they weren't completely flat and it was a bit hard trying to line everything up exactly.
I cannot say that I enjoyed this module very much....I feel like Unity was making things so much more complicated than it needed to be especially regarding the building process onto iOS. I think that in theory, my app was quite good but the execution needed a lot of time.
