Task 3
For my part in the project, I am satisfied with what I've made. I feel like
it's sort of a fresh design for me as I've only ever really had UI projects
for apps and modern themes. This is the first time I've ever had to design for
a landscape mobile game and I definitely had a lot to learn in terms of sizing
and placement. When I actually compared the original game with the redesign I
realised how small they actually made the players and how big they made their
buttons.
TASK 3
This task is a continuation from Task 2 so we just had to proceed with our
respective roles and produce our final outcomes in Week 14.
CHECKPOINT 1
For checkpoint 1, we just showed our sketches and current progress since
submitting our proposal.

The typeface I chose for the UI is 'Old Newspaper Types' and 'Gloucester
Mt Extra Condensed'.
We played around with different colour palettes and then ended up settling for a moody purple, orange and teal palette.

CHECKPOINT 2
For checkpoint 2, we showed our rendering progress so far. I had done all the lineart and most of the text, just had to render everything,

From there, I just rendered all the buttons and elements. It was pretty straightforward. I used a masking tape texture and grunge paper texture on top to give it some dimension. I decided to add text under the icons since it might not be clear to users what the button leads to.

I also made a quick start page and race overlay mockup.

Once I was done with my part, I had to wait for the environment designers to finish. Due to their busy schedule with another module, I helped them colour and compile the assets together. I used some gradient maps and a lottt of overlay layers.

Finally, I added it into the background for my race mockup with the characters.

REFLECTION
My experience with this task was....decent. Being team leader in like. 3
of my modules this semester kinda meant that I couldn't put my all in each
of them but in regards for Art Direction I feel like it went semi-alright.
I do wish that the rest of my team was more responsive and could
communicate more on their progress. I also think I could have better
outlined the expectations per week/every two weeks but aside from that things were alright.
